Mixing a little fun and class this morning at Spare Time Bowling in Albion with owner Joe Rivers. We started off the day at 6:45 am with 1 game of bowling, then Joe took us on his journey to this point in his life. It was obvious that entrepreneurship ran deep in his blood. When he was the age of our class, school wasn’t important, but through life he has had many years of college and now has 2 masters degrees in Educational Administration and Business. He said that you can look back on life and realize how many paths or opportunities you could have taken! Joe started with his years of experience in managing restaurants and restaurant chains, then to bounce house rentals, and now to the bowling alley. He still holds a full-time teaching position at Edwards County High School and is the head football coach. But he saw a need and an opportunity to purchase, clean up and improve the local bowling alley as well. Since that time he has been in the process of renovating, added a restaurant and a bar, slot machines and has more plans for future expansion and improvements . With his previous knowledge in the restaurant industry, he has now learned the in’s and out’s of maintaining the bowling portion! Joe’s favorite part is visiting with customers and knowing he has provided a family orientated atmosphere where people can enjoy quality time with family and friends!
