On Tuesday morning, Mount Carmel CEO traversed the globe, by way of FaceTime, to Hamburg, Germany, to welcome audio engineer and voiceover actor Michael Krüger as a guest speaker. Michael is now a successful business owner in Hamburg, but he also has roots right here in Mount Carmel. He was once a student at Wabash Valley College and, during his time here, also spent time teaching audio engineering to students at Mount Carmel High School. His company, called "Die Stube," which translates roughly to "The Living Room," started small, as a one-man operation working out of a one-room apartment, recording voiceover tracks for radio commercials. By getting out of that apartment, networking and making contacts in the industry, Michael began to get enough work that he ultimately relocated to a new location in the heart of Hamburg’s recording and entertainment district. He now owns and operates 3 studio control rooms, each with its own vocal booth, and has 4 -5 working audio engineers on staff. He explained to the students that he loves being a business owner, because it allows him the freedom to work with whom he chooses and under the circumstances he chooses. And at this point in his career, he works with some very well know companies, including Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, McDonalds and Aldi, just to name a few. After talking to the class about his background, giving a virtual tour of his studio and explaining what it is his company does, Michael took some questions from the students. He also asked them to individually explain what ideas they had for their personal CEO businesses and their current badge business. To see and hear some examples of the work Michael and his colleagues at "Die Stube" produce, visit the company website at http://die-stube.net/.
