On Tuesday morning, Mount Carmel CEO took a business tour of The Watering Can in Albion with owner Nathan Gentz. The Watering Can first opened its doors in January of 2013, but there has been a flower shop on that corner for 70 years. After managing another flower shop in Fairfield for a time, Nathan purchased the shop in his home town of Albion and hasn't looked back. In addition to the retail business he does out of the shop, he also has a number of corporate accounts, for which he designs and decorates offices for special occasions and holidays. In the flower business, "you have to stay ahead of the curve," he explained. It is not yet Thanksgiving, and Nathan is already working on Valentine's Day. Typically, he is working 2 to 3 seasons ahead. When asked if he could give one piece of advice to an aspiring entrepreneurs when starting a new business, he replied, "set your standards where you want them to be, and never go below them." Many thanks to Nathan for the tour Tuesday morning and for all his support of the CEO program over the years! Be sure to stop in the Watering Can at107 W Main Street in Albion to see everything Nathan has to offer this Christmas Season!
